A year of turmoil takes its toll on Arowyn Mason and her companions. After delivering the Elven prince to his homeland, they decide to ride out the winter in the city of Westport before starting their quest to heal the Fey. Like most things in Aro's life, nothing goes according to plan.
As Kei struggles with the prophecy bound within him, his sanity begins to unravel. A prophecy and a promise are broken, and forgotten threats resurface with dire consequences. The Dragos is watching and the Were king is displeased with the disregard of Were law. Aro scrambles as yet another threat emerges. The Elves, displeased with their prince, exploit his only weakness…her.
Aro is forced to find a new ally, a cold-hearted, ruthless pirate named Roan. He is more than he seems and Aro must learn who she can trust, or it will cost more than just her life. She has grown stronger, but is it enough to save herself, her family, and the Elf she loves?

The wait is finally over just to begin again! UGH!!!!Out of the 3 books in the series this is my least favorite. I did not fall in love with this book, like I did the other 2. I like this book and will re-read it again several times in the lifetime I have left but it wasn't as exciting as I wanted it to be. Maybe it was me, maybe I expected too much as everyone else gave 4-5 star reviews.
It began slow for me. I understood Aro's sadness and heartache, (I missed Prince already too). Decisions needed to be made, healing needed to begin and preparations needed to be done. I didn't know the direction this book was going to go in, but once Kei was out of the picture. I thought this installment was going to go in a whole different direction than what it did. Because of all that she has been through, I really wanted Aro to find independence, acceptance of the past, and forgiveness/love of herself in this book. She carries too much baggage on her 16 yr old shoulders. With no Prince and no Kei, what better way than to have a self discovery on your own?
Too bad Roan showed up...I am still trying to figure out what his purpose is? Don't trust him and a part of me wonders if ****spoiler*** he wasn't trying to keep her addicted to the drug himself for his own personal benefits/gains. Whatever they were. Hopefully we will get more answers in Broken Kei, which I cant wait to read. I also don't like the fact that ***another spoiler*** Aro keeps dying, is she like a cat with 9 lives or something???
Overall I did finish reading the book and I do love these characters. I really enjoyed meeting the twins and Hale. Bo and his new interest, and learning some new information on her brothers, (made me happy, sad too) Ms Wylie has such a great writing style and imagination. Her books are always clean and presented in a way that a reader of any age would be able to enjoy. I really do hope someone reads this series and wants to bring them to life on screen, being a movie or a tv series. I would love it!!!

Broken Promise The Broken Ones Book 3 eBook Jen Wylie Reviews
This is the third book in Jen Wylie's The Broken Ones Series and in my opinion it's the best one to date.
Aro has been through so much in this series but that's nothing compared to what she endures in this book. After returning Prince home and finding out that the Were King isn't happy with her and wants her detained so that he can speak to her she decides to wait out the winter in Westport. Bo and Garen find a buy them a house in the city with the money they received from Prince after returning him home. Things are going good but that doesn't last long.
The City of Westport is where everything gets exciting in the book. Dragos returns and isn't happy with the progress she's making with the prophecy so he takes one of her family members captive. There's nothing the rest of them can do but wait until Spring because Dragos has promised to return him to her by then.
Lets not forget that Aro finds herself kidnapped, drugged, chained up again, and beaten by some Elves who weren't pleased about her and Prince's final interaction before she left Rivenward. She does manage to escape with the a little bit of help but she doesn't get far before they start coming after her. While fighting for her life she injures one and kills another before help arrives in the form of a new ally....The Pirate Captain Roan. When she discovers that he's more than what he seems she needs to figure out is she can trust him.
I will admit that I was more than a little bit worried that when I read this book we wouldn't have any interaction with Prince and I wasn't happy about that. Imagine how happy I was to see that wasn't the case. Even though we only get a couple of scenes with Prince and they are further into the book they continue to give me hope that one day he and Aro will be together.
This book was beyond what I was hoping for. I found myself sitting on the edge of my seat quite often with all the action going on. Then I would find myself wondering how many more "men" were going to become interested/fascinated in Aro because of this prophecy and the things that she's capable of doing.
An amazing read that I will most definitely be recommending to others. I can't wait for Broken Kei to be released so I can see what happens next with Aro and her family. I'm hoping that we still get a couple scenes with Prince in them. I want nothing more than for everyone to be wrong about her and Shael. Jen you continue to amaze me with this series. I'm totally in love with these characters and a fan of yours for life. If you haven't checked out these books yet you need to do so now. You won't be disappointed.
